NIKITA: Another kick-ass female heroine arrives this Fall (2010)

The worldwide premiere of “Nikita” was shown at Comic-Con. Having watched the first episode of this adrenaline-pumping series, it is practically guaranteed that this show will become a huge success for the CW.

Starring the uber sexy and stunning Maggie Q, “Nikita” focuses on the simultaneous stories of Nikita and a new recruit, Alex. Whereas Nikita managed to escape three years earlier and has been working to bring down the government branch which enslaved her, Alex has just been caught and is now venturing down the same path to being trained to be a government assassin on a leash. But Nikita plans to stop it before it gets that far. It is her mission to destroy Division and rescue those similarly serving sentences of forced servitude. It must end.

During the Q&A portion of the panel after the screening, both Maggie and Lyndsy Fonseca expressed their gratitude at being selected for such cool, kick-ass roles. They each have been provided deeply complex and rich characters that they can slowly peel back the layers which in turn reveals an even more intriguing aspect. Sharing her elation at scoring such a fun role, Maggie said, “I’m not the obvious choice and I’m excited they took a risk.”

Episode 2 of the series will explore the entanglement of Nikita and Alex’s destinies and there will be more gunfights, catfights and a little something for everyone, including a possible new love interest for Nikita and more revelations about her prior relationship with Michael who now hunts her at the instruction of Division which is very worried about their highly trained loose cannon roaming loose in the world and bearing a very nasty grudge.

With Lyndsy Fonseca playing Alex and Shane West cast as her handler Michael, the cat-and-mouse game has only just begun.

“Nikita” will air on the CW this Fall.
